This park has touched the international border of Tibet in the north and east. The highest point in the park is Langtang Lirung summit. The park is the first protected area in the mountain range of Nepal approved in 1970. Trek to Langtang offers gorgeous view of several mountains including the Langtang Himal itself. Langtang Himal and Jugal Himal are those two mountains believed to be viewed from Kathmandu. Gosaikunda at the elevation of 4,300 meters is an alpine freshwater lake with a surface area of 34 acres. According to the religious belief, Gosaikunda is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Gauri and is mentioned in three Hindu scriptures Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vishnu Purana and Bhagavata Purana. Thousands of followers gather on this lake during Janai Purnima. Gosaikunda is another place of interest in Langatang trek.

Your body automatically gets acclimatized as you keep on moving uphill in a slow and constant pace. When required, trekkers can take a couple of day rest in one of the villages. People here follow Buddhism, perhaps because of the Tibetan tribe influence in the region. Explore one of the ancient monasteries, Kyanjin Gompa sitting at the altitude of 3,865 meters from sea level. It has almost become compulsory for travelers to visit monasteries so they can relax and meditate even, listening to the powerful and soothing mantras enchanted by the monks and nuns. Trekkers pray for prosperity and success to follow in their life. A day at monastery is never a wasted day but is counted to be the most fruitful one. While some people have in their mind that trekking is all sweat and tough job, it is not. Trek has to be demanding but not overtiring. It is better you move early in the morning, so that in the afternoon when the sun is at its hottest, you’ll be resting in a lodge. Make sure your itinerary is designed carefully in order to make your trek fun and easy. Begin your days with a proper breakfast, stop for lunch at around noon time for two hours and dinner usually at seven.
