We had a small group of four people that booked the Everest Base Camp trek – 10 days. The experience was once in a life time. Our guide Basu, is a experienced mountain host that is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and kind. With out his leadership I don’t think our group would have ever made it to base camp. While hiking he would stop to point out local flora and fauna, and making sometimes dull grueling trekking sessions interesting and informative. He again proved his weight in gold when one of our group members was forced to helicopter evacuate from the highest village, Gorek Shep, due to altitude sickness. An otherwise complicated situation was handled with professionalism and focus, making the best of a bad situation.
This trek was physically difficult, but very rewarding. If you are crunched for time on your adventure I would recommend the 10 day round trip. But if you have a more relaxed schedule I recommend taking your time trekking in the Himalayans. Spending days adjusting to the climate and altitude is an important thing to do. This also allows you to take day/side hikes to other interesting points.
Overall a great experience with Exciting Nepal. 10/10 would do it again if my legs weren’t still recovering 🙂
