Everybody knows of Mt Everest and that's the simple reason why the Everest base camp trek is so popular. The trek has a number of stunning attractions ,but it also has some distinct drawbacks which might well deter potential trekkers were it not for the undeniable plus point of being able to say u have been to the base of the highest mountains in the world. FROM 18,513-FOOT KALA PATTAR YOU'LL STAND FACE TO FACE WITH MOUNT EVEREST, the "Goddess Mother of the Earth." Discover why this has become one of our most rewarding journeys and a Mountain Madness Classic, first developed over twenty five years ago by our founder Scott Fischer!
Our carefully crafted itinerary ensures proper acclimatization, allowing you to fully enjoy one of the world's most stunning treks and the easy walk up Kala Pattar. On this journey of a lifetime, you'll experience the base camp life of Everest climbers, hike to the infamous Khumbu Icefall, marvel at the stunning views from Kala Pattar, and engage yourself with the friendly Sherpa people.
The attraction including spectacular scenery and the outgoing Sherpa people of the solukhumbu the region where Mt Everest and its attendant lesser peaks are located .the drawbacks include the long hard slog to get there and the acclimatization's problems caused by the regions considerable altitude.
It's not until you get right into the solukhumbu region that the Everest trek really get interesting .the 1st part of the trek is not only hard slog. but is also pretty sparse in the breath taking views department .the hard slog comes about because the trek doesn't follow valleys like the Annapurna trek instead the Everest treks cuts across the valley so far day after day it's a tiring the valley so far day after day its tiring process of dropping down one side of a steep valley and climbing up again on the other. By the time you reach the base camp your ascents will total almost 9000m,the full height of Everest from sea level!
Our route will enable you to visit monasteries in the heart of Sherpa country, where you can observe the monks in their daily prayers. You'll also hike out onto the Khumbu glacier to visit the iconic Everest Base Camp, where climbers following the steps of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay prepared for their summit attempts. You can stand at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall, where climbers begin their own odyssey.
During climbing season (April/May), Mountain Madness offers you the special opportunity to spend one night at Everest Base Camp before beginning your descent. Outside of climbing season, we will use the extra time to divert from the main trail for a stunning hike to an off-the-beaten-path village on an ancient trade route.
