This splendid 16-days adventure combines an awesome diversity of scenery and spectacular views of the Himalayas, with a vast number of exciting cultural encounters. An opportunity to reach at 4620m high altitude as well as an adequate level of physical fitness and health is required for completing this trek. This trip links together with Langtang, Helambu and Gosainkund – three distinct regions for a trek where the culture is as diverse as the terrain.
TREK HIGHLIGHTS
The highlights of this trek are numerous; however the main areas of excitement are as follows:
We will encounter some superb rhododendron and bamboo forests, inhabited by an abundance of animal and bird life, including: mountain deer, pandas, Langure monkeys and jungle goats. We will also pass by a series of majestic waterfalls flowing over house-sized boulders and be able to bath in soothing hot springs.
At numerous points on the trek, we will be able to enjoy spectacular views of the snow covered white giant Langtang Lirung (7200m). In the friendly Sherpa village of Kyanjing Gompa (3800m), we will experience the spiritual lifestyle of the dedicated Buddhist monks who worship in a beautiful Monastery dating back to the 1300s.
We will also get the opportunity to visit the traditional cheese factory, visiting how this delicious food is made by hand.
A side-trek will also be taken to the magnificent glacial moraine (4300m), which we will be able to climb. From Chadan Bari (2800m), we can enjoy magnificent views of the towering snow-capped Ganesh Himal range (7600m) and Langtang #2 (7227m). This is also one of the best places to spot the elusive Red Pandas that inhabit the Langtang region. In Gosainkund, we will have to wake up early in the morning to view the sunrise of the multitude of Gosainkund’s glacier’s Lakes, which is also a sacred pilgrimage site. We can also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of Tarke Gyang and Sarmathang (2621m), before heading back to Katmandu.
Facts of the Trip
Itinerary:
Day 1 Kathmandu
Dinner at a local restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu.
Day 02: Katmandu- Syabru Besi
Make an early start to the bus journey around 8 hours to Syabru Besi (2040m) the starting point of the trek. From here, the adventure begins! Passing through many small villages on the way will be fascinating you with snippets of every day living in these lowland villages.
Day 03: Syabru Besi - Lama Hotel
Crossing through the suspension bridge and heading precipitously along a stream. The River we are following is mostly the Langtang River. You can enjoy the walk going through mix forest (Bamboos, rhododendron and Alpine forest area). Night stay at Lama Hotel (2800m).
Day 04: Syabru-Ghore Tabela
After having breakfast we will continue our trip to our next destination. We are starting our trip descending towards a steep forest slope to the Langtang River. We cross a bridge and head up with a winding path. We then enter a forest on a gentle incline en route for gradually gain altitude. We get ahead of Gumba and climb a steep hill to come to Ghore Tabela (3010m) set in a wide valley. During the night at camp.
Day 05: Ghore Tabela
Take a break day for device implementation. Slide show and projector demonstration is providing you to give an idea about evidence of solar project.
Day 06: Ghore Tabela-Kyanjin Gompa
Hike transversely along fields and cross a steep hill. Here the forest line split ends. We follow a gentle path leading to alpine meadows. Ascends to the meadows to enter the village of Langtang. We pass through the village’s stone-built houses and climb to a Chorten and passed a huge mani along a gentle path of a hill. The valley relocate to a U-shaped one (glacial valley) as we enter into a level of riverbed. Kim shun (6745m) and Tsenji (6543m) Himal can be seen. After crossing on the side of moraine we arrive at Kyanjin Gompa (3840m) for over night camp.
Day 07: Kyanjin Gompa- Explore day
Visit after the breakfast at Tserko RI (5000m) for fantastic view of the langtang range. Back to guest house for Lunch having short rest and walk around the Kyanjing valley with guide.
Day 08: Kyanjin –Ghoretabala
This day all the way down to hill trek to Ghoretabala for over night.
Day 09: Ghoretabala -Syabru
First decent down to river cross the river and ascend to Syabru (2230) for overnight. You will see the nice view of Langtang himal. You will pass through pine and Junieerps forest
Day 10: Syabru -Shin Gompa
On or after here we take the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and through a rhododendron forest to Shin Gompa (3300m). A nice view of langtang and langtang valley.
Day 11: Shin Gompa-Gosainkund
We go up smoothly through rhododendron covered point to the top of the rim and through a forested area. We return to the ridge path and climb a wider route to arrive at a ‘Kharka’. (Alpine meadow used for summer grazing). We continue along the wide path which soon turns rocky. We weave our way along the right flank as we approach the Trisuli River. Now the mountain slope eases and the first lake appears. At the second lake we climb a little and the third lake makes out us at Gosainkund (4310m). We have the balance of the day to relax in the vicinity of the lake.
Day 12: Gosainkund-Gopte
We get higher through a shaky but gentle slope to Suryakund pass (4640m) after which we descend into a wide valley leading to a Kharka. We enter the sheer mountainside that carries out a Yo-Yo routine. After we pass several streams the path alleviates. But very soon we climb a steep flank and cross a branch ridge to arrive at Gopte (3430m) with its cave.
Day 13: Gopte- MelanchiGaon
We slide down through a forested area and climb through a dry river-bed to arrive at a Kharka that is surrounded by rhododendron forest. We climb through the forest to arrive at the village of Thare Pati. Climbing the ridge directly above the village gives us a marvelous view of the Jugal area. We take the lane that climbs to the ridge and arrives at a village. From here we enter a forested area, again descending to Melamchi River followed by yet again climbing to the MelanchiGaon (2560 m) for over night.
Day 14: MelanchiGaon – Sarmathang
We follow the crest route and descend through cultivated fields. We pass through Tarkeghyang, We continue down the path ascending through a wooded and farming area to arrive Sarmathang (2621 m) for overnight.
Day 15: Sarmathang - Melanchi Bazaar (Pull)
Now, the last day of trekking. Downhill through the village and farming areas to Melanchi Pull for overnight.
Day 16: Malachi Bazaar (pull) - Katmandu.
