The most diverse trek in the Himalaya start in lush terraced farmland, through high Manang Tibetan landscape to the wide Kali Gandaki River between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. We stay in Thakali courtyard lodges, with world class food, visit Buddhist rock face monasteries and the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath. We see fantastic waterfalls and relax in natural hot springs. The Annapurna range is stunning; and we discover it close up from all sides; the majestic views from the south, the sculpted ice of the great north faces and the deep gorges of the west. We take in the final sunrise panorama from Poon Hill, and still have time for a few days to relax in gorgeous lakeside Pokhara. Much of the walking on the circuit is straight-forward, but half way round is the 5,416 m Thorong pass, a very tough but very rewarding day.
